Originally from Derby, James moved to London 10 years ago and began working at London’s oldest listening and support services for the LGBT community. Whilst there, he developed an interest in the mind and helping people deal with trauma and other psychological issues that were affecting their lives.
He trained at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing where he gained his clinical diploma in Transactional Analysis psychotherapeutic counselling. He is currently completing his MSc in TA psychotherapy at the same university. He continued his interest by beginning work as a counsellor at The Terrence Higgins Trust in 2016.
James’s approach to counselling is based upon the principles of Transactional Analysis. His foundation for relating to people is that we are all born OK and everyone is entitled to equality, respect and validation. He believes that at our core, we are all lovable and have a positive desire for growth.
