We are delighted to now be offering Reflexology as a therapy.
Our skilled and experienced therapist Leanne Bowden is now in Kennington. If you need to rebalance, de-stress or detoxify then read on or book in.
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving the application of pressure to identified points on the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. These pressure points have direct therapeutic links with muscles, organs and systems within the body and, with skilled treatment from a qualified Reflexologist, can be stimulated to encourage the body to release toxins and rebalance itself therefore easing discomfort and pain.
Reflexology has been shown to relieve some of the conditions outlined below and so could be a worthwhile choice in treating them.
- Digestive disorders such as IBS
- Hormonal imbalance
- Sinus/nasal congestion
- Respiratory problems
- Headaches/ Migraines
What’s the process?
First there’s a consultation, we’ll ask you to fill out a health questionnaire and discuss what you want to gain from the session whether that’s relaxation or a particular health concern, as well as answer any questions you may have about the treatment.
Next is the treatment, you’ll be almost fully reclined with barefeet where massage techniques will be applied before, during and after the treatment to soothe and relax them. Pressure will be applied to the identified reflex points using mainly the thumb and forefinger to encourage the body to rebalance and address the complaints you have.
At the end of the session we will discuss any congested areas found and offer further after care advice.
Leanne qualified with a Level 3 VTCT: World Class Qualifications Diploma in Reflexology in 2011 and has spent the last 6 years in practice honing her skills. We are delighted to welcome her to Kennington Osteopaths where her experience will be invaluable.
