Traditional Acupuncture
A holistic system of diagnosis that addresses dysfunction in all the body’s systems, subtly and effectively, particularly in women’s health and stress related problems
Overwork, stress, physical and emotional trauma, infections, disease and unhealthy lifestyle choices can all upset our homeostasis (natural balance). When this occurs we can experience illness and injury.
Using fine needles to stimulate acupuncture points on the body it is possible to recalibrate our nervous system to help restore health.
Traditional acupuncture is great for pain, sports injuries, headaches, PMT, menopausal problems, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, tiredness and generally feeling under the weather. The British Acupuncture Council compiles and provides all the latest research and evidence based facts on acupuncture.
It currently lists over 30 different health conditions which traditional acupuncture can treat. See the evidence page for further details.
The initial treatment package is comprised of two appointments, usually spaced about a week apart. Having two sessions allows the acupuncturist to do a more comprehensive treatment with the first visit consisting of consultation and initial treatment, while the second visit allows for further focused treatment to build on the effects of the initial visit and ensure you get the maximum benefit from the acupuncture.
Your initial visit will last up to one and a half hours. In this time your acupuncturist will discuss with you which areas of your face you are most looking for treatment on as well as gathering information from you on your medical and family history; your systems or functions (e.g. sleep, appetite, digestion, etc); and your physical condition to formulate an overall picture of your health. This will allow your acupuncturist to assess what constitutional acupuncture would be best to include in your treatment, in order to most effectively enhance the results of the facial acupuncture.
Your initial visit with then include your first treatment which will involve some facial treatments, some constitutional needling to boost your body’s natural vitality and your skin’s health and some focused facial needling to work on specific problem areas.
Your follow-up treatment, lasting up to an hour, will then consist of further constitutional acupuncture along with facial treatments and more focused facial needling.
After your initial treatment package of two sessions, treatments can be booked individually.
